5 things to do in Tukuyu

If you go to the South-West of Tanzania, be sure to visit Tukuyu! Google Map got some misspelling going on here, not me.

1. Learn Swahili for free at Bongo Camping
I learned Swahili at Bongo Camping together with other tourists and in exchange with the local people who are taking english courses at the NGO camp site. A Swahili speaking Dane, Kasper Gram-Hansen, was leading the teachings. It was really brilliant and I got some genuine friendships that made me feel at home in Tukuyu. We took a little group picture:

2. Eat at Ima's Kitchen
This local cafeteria serves local dishes to the price of 1 or 2 dollars. And for some cents you can get a delicious chai. It is the favourite place for both the locals and the tourists. If you are planning on renting a car, I would also recommend asking for Ima.

3. Climb Mount Rungwe
A challenging rain forest vulcano. We climbed it in one day. If you are not afraid of pain, I dare you!

4. Visit Kaporogwe Falls or Ngozi Crater See
Or any other of the great sights around Tukuyu. Bongo Camping or Rungwe Tea Tours can guide you. I would go with the Bongos!

5. Buy a dress / suit
My girlfriend got some high fashion dresses tailor sewn. 6 dollars each.

5 more things to do in Berlin

6. Party at Dr. Pong
The famous underground Tischtennis bar in Eberswalder Straße. Just by the Eberswalder U-bahn station.

7. Go to a museum at payfree thursday
The National Museums in Berlin are kostenlos the last 4 opening hours every Thursday. That means from 18 to 22 at the Museum Island in Mitte. Check out fly girl Nefertete at Alte Museum:

The New National Galery by Potsdamer Platz is also worth a visit. Or the Hamburger Bahnhof if you are into Modern Art (closes at 18).

8. Try not to eat too much Döner and Shawarma
Among Döner gourmants Berlin is known as a true paradise. But be aware, it's addictive. And though they put a great mix of salats in, I don't really think it's that healthy.

9. Learn German
Even though English will get you far in Berlin, German will get you further. Learn it in the streets and in the classroom. The Volkhochschule has classes starting all the time. I am following one right now.

There are also some online resources for learning german.

10. Watch Euro Cup 2008
Bars and café's show every match - inside and outside. The germans love football!

5 things to do in Berlin

1. Get a bike
Only by bike you meet the real Berlin with the wibe so many people is praising and not just the U-bahn spots with the mandatory Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and Häagen-Dazs.

2. Rent a flat
If you are in Berlin for a week or more, get a flat! The flats are cheap and often very charming. There are 4 cool neighbourhoods in Berlin: Friedrichshain (young), Kreuzberg (multikulti), Mitte (international) and Prenzlauer Berg (relaxed).

If you speak a little German and want to rent without middlemen, try Zweite Hand.
Otherwise use someone like the Exberliner or google.

3. Drink orange juice
The orange juice stalls are all around town. 0,2 litre freshmade for 1 euro.

4. Play table tennis or beach volley
Every little green area in Berlin have at least one table for table tennis.
In this video I am playing with Broken Foot. He is the FUNNY one:)

And many parks are loaded with beach volley courts.

5. Go dining!
Berlin has restaurants from all over the world. Cheap and high quality. Enjoy!

For instance Hot Pot. But really, just go where your nose leads you in one of the four advisable neighbourhoods.
