crazy "song"...
hated it yesterday, love it today, dunno bout tomorrow...
Just think of it as the genius of Kanye West wearing a lumberjack cap.
ReplyDeleteReally though, Vocorders are getting their heyday. It's done nicely.
i was surprised to see that he used a vocorder. i must agree, i wasn't prepared to hear it the first time. but I appreciate his voice in it now, I just can't listen to it too much and it'll be good.
ReplyDelete"Kanye West wearing a lumberjack cap" - true.
ReplyDeletereminds me of that imogen heap song a bit.
ReplyDeletei cant listen to it enough. such beautiful harmonies. bravo.
ReplyDeleteI have to say... The use of autotune was a shock, but after a couple of listens, I realize how much it really adds to the song.. especially when the full chord of voices comes in towards the middle.. amazing. The beginning is a little slow, but the climax wouldn't be as amazing without the slower parts. Please don't compare this to Kanye.. ever.. again. Kanye couldn't write something this beautiful if he woke up in Justin Vernon's body.
ReplyDeleteHere is the comparison. When you told us not to compare it to Kanye I saw it as a challenge and I had to do it. So, check out the result:)
ReplyDeletehe uses autotune on other tracks too. he just uses it more on this one.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between Kanye and Bon Iver is that Bon Iver has talent. It's also ashame that he gets credit for the autotune thing. As much as I hate to reference her...Cher did it on Life After Love like 10 yrs ago.
ReplyDeleteKanye isn't good at inventing, his talent is reinventing. Sampling and all that
ReplyDeletei cant listen to it enough. such beautiful harmonies. bravo.
