MTV Movie Awards 2009: Bruno 69 Eminem (video)

Clearly it was staged - but who suggested it: Bruno, Eminem or MTV?

A leaked document from Bruno, Eminem and MTV PR Buzz Managers compiles a list of media stories to be spun off this marketing stunt:
1. Homophobic Eminem gets sexually harassed by crazy homo-star Bruno (hahaha)
2. Eminem, who is always making fun of other celebrities, receives a load of his own medicine - and does not like it (didn't I say, he is just like them)
3. Bruno is kicking a guy, straight out of rehab, that is lying down (so rude)
4. By letting this happen MTV again shows a lack of moral. Our kids must be told not to watch this godless channel (oh my, where is this world heading?)
5. Eminem can't be part of the prank - 'cause it's soo humiliating (it must be real, right!?)

Danish media will follow Rupert Murdoch on micropayment

Murdoch wants his web sites to charge for content following the success of Wall Street Journal - a global niche media. The two big Danish media houses, Berlingske Media and JP/Politikens Hus, desperately agree with the man. They are looking for an online business model and it better not include them having to work harder, make better web content or open their sites up to the social and blogging web (admittedly, eb.dk is semi doing this).
Murdoch:
"(...) you can confidently presume that we are leading the way in finding a model that maximizes revenues in return for our shareholders... The current days of the Internet will soon be over."
Uuuhh, tough guy... I do not think it is the current days of the internet, that will soon be over... but the current days of news business.

(lyrics + stream) The Streets - He's behind you, he's got swine flu

The Streets - He's behind you, he's got swine flu - lyrics:
He's behind you,
he's got swine flu
Make a sacrifice for societies sake,
(no) decapitate your mate!

You started sneezing,
I could see that you were freezing
in the heat of this really, unbelievable evening.
The streets were all empty but for overturned cars
bellowing smoke from the sparse roads clothed with scars.
The brain dead in face masks wandered, Im stretched
sizzling bacon from beyond the farfetched,
Ive never hurt my friend till the very burning end
is what flirtingly I said to my best friends head.

Verse 2:
The story then was told
it got gory it unfolded
broadcasters blasting out stories of the poorly,
I dont advocate anarchy in any way,
but i saw him scratch a rash
and i had to grab an axe.
Weve all known each other since the groans of our mothers,
and throwing with our brothers little stones in the river
the fact that my man might not actually expire
caused me some ire while i hauled him on the fire

Theres something that I need to share with you all,
I cant go on lying Im developing sores,
Im turning Im burning up Im turning back bro,
Ill hold them up while u turn and run.

Police Stop Bicyclists To Give Them Hugs And Helmets

It's a clip from a traffic campaign in Aalborg (Denmark), to get people wear helmet when cycling! The film was made with real people, real cops and real love.

Comments from the Huffington Post:
- Did anyone else notice that all the cyclists were men? Yep. I'm really wondering if this was supposed to be a "Wear a Condom!" ad instead. ;-)

- Look at those socialists caring about each other! That's why they're so unhappy. Oh wait...

- U.S. cops would shoot you in the leg and THROW the helmet at you while you were sprawled on the pavement.

- Hey, our cops give out free hugs, too! They're just really tight ones from behind and around the neck...with a baton (for extra love)!

- Damn socialists - making the world safer and friendlier!! Surely will lead to the destruction of society's fabric and the homosexualization of babies.

- Hugging? Contact? OH GOD THAT'S HOW YOU SPREAD GERMS!!! SWINE FLU! =P
Danes might be more friendly and openminded, but Americans are more fun!

The Streets - A Blip on a Screen (lyrics + stream)

@skinnermike posted a great new song: A Blip on a Screen

The Streets - A Blip on a Screen - lyrics:
Turn on the lights
so it burns in the night
turning down the flay
the world is uncertain
I’m certained by the curtains tonight
……………
Got to reverse the pattern
What’s the worse that could happen?
For the first time in my adulthood
The worse that could happen
Is utterly unthinkable, ……..
Suddenly I’m worried about the bread under the bed
Bu then all sort of awful shit seem plausible indoors
Proportions get “walked” in to the worse, and for certain
You’re growing thumbs
I’m growing numb
“totting” to your mom’s lips like it might be quite fun

Chorus:
A blip on a screen
You don’t know me
I think about you
And what you’ll grow to be

(......)
I fix and I plan
but this is just mad
I love you
You're only a 100 pixels on a scan

nej nej nej nej nej
så når hun ser dig siger hun
nej nej nej nej nej

Touch Me Thermo is the next THING

Saw these sasseeh gals last night at Stengade 30. They are the next thang out of Denmark, brother.

I tell you, if I had a record label, I'd sign them instantly!

Check them out before they check you out.
"You try to hard
u suck"
- Touch Me Thermo
About Touch Me Thermo by Stengade 30 (Translated with a machine of course... almost incomprehensible but you might get the picture anyway...):
"Out of the blue comes this 2 Copenhagen girls (they were 3 yesterday!?), armed to the teeth with 8-bit beats and catchy vocal melodies. They are playing through a noisy electro universe that allows the ideas fall into a slow version Atari Teenage Riot or unpolished version of Ladytron. A-care attitude and is seething unrest behind the distorted sound and threatens constantly to drag you back to the avant-garde club in Berlin or London in the'80s. It is raw and cold as a butcher's window yet, sources a little of the heart as a spring infatuation."

Jack Penate - Tonight’s Today (Lyrics and Stream)

Jack Penate - Tonight’s Today - Lyrics:
I’m in a haze
an in between stage
Cos I’m not awake
but walk in a state
Of ghostly charm
a deadly calm
And my filthy palms
Reach for the harms

Today’s tonight tonight’s today today’s tonight
Tonight’s today today’s tonight tonight’s today
Everyday everyday everyday

Tonight just became this morning
The sun’s waving at the moon
The thought has just started dawning
That there’s still so much more that I can do
I shuffle into the sunlight
A zombie roaming on the day
She look’s at me and says “What a sight”
A passing woman says

Today’s tonight tonight’s today today’s tonight
Tonight’s today today’s tonight tonight’s today
Everyday everyday everyday

Every nights the same
I'm ringing church bells...

Nephew - 007 is also gonna die (stream and lyrics)

Nephew - 007 is also gonna die - lyrics:

What is black and what is brown
What is field and what is town
What is silence, what is shout
What is fear and what is doubt

Double-o-seven is also gonna die
Bond James Bond himself is bound to die
Double-o-seven is also gonna die
Bond James Bond himself is bound to die

What is less in less is more
What if god won’t bless the whore
What if words like boy and girl
Did not rhyme with joy and world

Double-o-seven is also gonna die
Bond James Bond himself is bound to die
Double-o-seven is also gonna die
Bond James Bond himself is bound to die

He’s bound to die…
------------------------------------

007 Is Also Gonna Die is the first single from the upcoming Nephew album Danmark/Denmark.

Nephew about the song:
"It's an angry cry for some absolutes in life. One thing we can be sure of is that we're all gonna die. That this also goes for James Bond reflects a very Danish point of view."
Danmark/Denmark will be released on June 5th, Constitution Day in Denmark.
"To be a Dane is not really a quality on its own, but more like the lens through which we view our lives. With that in mind, the theme of the album is really 'everything viewed from a Danish scope'. The songs are about being humans with eyes and ears, hearts and brains, physically situated in Denmark, which is in Europe, which is in the World.", says Nephew lead singer Simon Kvamm.
The album includes tracks such as Descendants Of King Canute, Jesus Jesus, 007 Is Also Gonna Die and Hurra!.

Eminem - We Made You (Stream + Lyrics) NEW song

Eminem - We Made You (video):

Eminem - We Made You - Lyrics:

When you walked through the door
It was clear to me (clear to me)
You’re the one they adore, who they came to see (who they came to see)
You’re a … rock star (baby)
Everybody wants you (everybody wants you)
Player… Who can really blame you (who can really blame you)
We're the ones who (chicka) made you *cough, cough*

Back by popular demand
Now pop a little Zantac or ant'-acid if you can
You're ready to tackle any task that is at hand
How does it feel, is it fantastic, is it grand?
Well look at all the massive masses in the stands
Shady man… no don’t massacre the fans
Damn, I think Kim Kardashians a man
She stomped him just cause he asked to put his hands
On her massive Gluteus maximus again
Squeeze it, then Squish it, then pass it to her friend
Can he come back as nasty as he can
Yes he can, can, don’t ask me this again
He does not mean to lesbian offend
But Lindsay please come back to seeing men
Samantha’s a 2, You’re practically a 10
I know you want me girl,
In fact I see your grin
(Now come in girl)

Verse Two:
The enforcer, looking for more women to torture
Walk up to the cutest girl and Charlie Horse her
Sorry Portia, but what’s Ellen DeGeneres
Have that I don't, are you telling me tenderness?
Well I can be as gentle and as smooth as a gentleman
Give me my ventolin inhaler and 2 xenedrine
And I'll invite Sarah Palin out to dinner then
Nail her, 'Baby say hello to my little friend'
Brit f’rget K-Fed let’s cut off the middle man
Forget him or your gonna end up in the hospital again
And this time it won’t be for the Ritalin binge
Forget them other men, girl pay them little atten-tion
A little did I mention, that Jennifer's in-
Love with me John Mayer so sit on the bench
Man I swear them other guys you give ‘em an inch
They take a mile, they got style, but it isn't Slim

Verse Three:
And that’s why… my love
You'll never live without,
I know you want me girl cause I can see you checking me out
And baby, you know, you know you want me too
Don’t try to deny it baby, I’m the only one for you
(Fart)
Damn girl I’m beginning to sprout an Alfalfa
Why should I wash my filthy mouth out
You think that’s bad you should hear the rest of my album
Never has there been such finesse and nostalgia
Man Cash, I don’t mean to mess up your gal but
Jessica Alba put a breast in my mouth (brrp)
Wowzers, I just made a mess of my trousers
And they wonder why I keep dressing like Elvis
Lord help us he's back in his pink Alf shirt
Looking like someone shrinked his outfit
I think he’s about to flip
Jessica rest assure, Superman’s here to rescue ya
Can you blame me?
You’re my Amy, I’m your Blake
Matter fact make me a birthday cake
With a saw blade in it to make my jail break
Baby, I think you just met your soul mate
(Now break it down girl)

Danish X-Factor: The winner Linda and the best performances

The winner of the Danish X-Factor 2009 was Linda Andrews. A 35 year old woman with a great voice, who managed to tell her story and get people involved in her private struggles against cruel people and comforteating.
She sort of made a symbol out of herself of overcoming and not-putting-up-with-the-cruel-world - OMG, she pulled an Obama on us!

As Linda writes on her Myspace (translated version):
"A voice can tell many things. About pain, the joy and variety of other emotions, but to communicate through song, it is rarely credible and genuine unless you have some stories and experiences you are willing to share with the world."
Bah.

Blachman, the transgressive judge, commented on her suffering story on and off the show that "this is not Oprah Winfrey ffs"! But maybe they should change it to the Oprah Winfrey-Factor show!?

This was her final performance:

Well well well... Ok, so she got a million kroner record deal. And congratulations.
Update: article and discussion at pol.dk about DR not mentioning that Linda already was a semi-pro singer before the contest. (translated)

These are the 3 most viewed videos on Youtube from X-Factor 2009 in Denmark:
1. Lucas - Tainted Love (show 2)

2. Alien Beat Club - Warwick Avenue

3. Mohamed - One thing

Alien Beat Clubs (second, with 2 percent less votes than Linda) performance in the final:

Thanks to all the performers and judges for great family entertainment you can trust - see you next year!

2 bad (out of many) Facebook design changes

Over at the AllFacebook blog Nick O'Neill got me answering a question about the new Facebook design:
Have you found the new design easy to use?
Well, here's my answer:

I don’t think it is a question about whether the new design is easy to use or not. It’s a question about the new design and feed algorithms impairing what was good about Facebook.

My two examples:

Applications you have not added can post feeds on your Wall!! (I just got an application feed on my wall from Friends For Sale! - An app I would never add and don’t want to pollute my pages)

Applications appear more in the News Feed / Live Feed and the only way to opt-out is by hiding your friends using the apps. With the old design you could hide the applications (I don’t want to hide interesting friends just because they got a fling with some stupid app. I want the good old fb algorithm to know that I hate apps, just like it used to know.)

Well, at least I see an upside to this bad change of design:

I’m from Denmark where Facebook is huge (more than 1/3 is on) and Twitter so far has only been for the really net-savvy.
But since the new Facebook came on, it seems the early adopters and the early majority is being pushed over to Twitter (people following me, and asking in their fb status updates who is on Twitter!). This is good news for Danish information seekers and Twitter, but a bad move for Facebook the company because they are pushing people to Twitter - not the opposite.

Follow Keeplefty on Twitter

I wonder, is Facebook in the closings of acquiring Twitter??

Bon Iver - Brackett, WI (lyrics + stream)

Bon Iver - Brackett, WI - lyrics

An easy swing had its time shouldered
-slow bending axe.
now it's a photo framed.
the swing hasn't had it.

and here we are rebuilding roads
right by roosting towns.
it's just like the love
-the one that's never been enough.

so I’m counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached the twitch
and if you want opinion,
I will die along the ditches.

and every summer is a hot token
to the cold, cold take of lust.
and every autumn singes
with the business of sadness.

friend, how the grown May sing:
"honey let it burn"
and the curve in the county
is ??? ????????

so I’m counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached the twitch
and if you want opinion,
I will die along the ditches.

How to stop the drug wars

100 years of prohibition has failed; legalisation is the least bad solution, The Economist writes in a leader from 5/3-09.

I agree that legalisation seems to be the best solution to a global crisis on the rise.

There's something rotten... globally!

In Denmark we are in the midst of what Danish media and politicians has named "the Gang War" (bandekrigen). Drug cartels are fighting about the Danish drug market in a more and more fiercely manner. Since August 2008 the drug war has resulted in around 50 shootings and 5 killings.

These numbers are shocking in Denmark, but they are nothing compared to other countries. From August-December there has been 2540 drug war related deaths in Mexico and more than 800 policemen and soldiers have been killed since December 2006. Gangsters are ruining the Mexican economy. In Afghanistan the drug cartels has already ruined the economy.

Honduras suffers 5-7 drug related murders a day, which led President Manuel Zelaya to call on the United States to legalize drugs. Clearly this issue is global and only a global solution is possible. A solution which forces us to rethink the criminalization of drugs, but which will have immense positive spill-over effects on troubled countries.

A public health issue, not a criminal issue
The Latin American Commission on Drugs and Democracy has made some recommendations to President Barack Obama to consider new policies, such as decriminalization of cannabis and to treat drug use as a public health problem and not as a security problem.
The Netherlands has had a pragmatic policy of treating drug use as a public health problem and not a criminal issue through partial legalisation of soft drugs (cannabis) for some years now.

The Economist leader elaborates on the legalisation issue:
"Legalisation would not only drive away the gangsters; it would transform drugs from a law-and-order problem into a public-health problem, which is how they ought to be treated. Governments would tax and regulate the drug trade, and use the funds raised (and the billions saved on law-enforcement) to educate the public about the risks of drug-taking and to treat addiction. The sale of drugs to minors should remain banned. Different drugs would command different levels of taxation and regulation. This system would be fiddly and imperfect, requiring constant monitoring and hard-to-measure trade-offs. Post-tax prices should be set at a level that would strike a balance between damping down use on the one hand, and discouraging a black market and the desperate acts of theft and prostitution to which addicts now resort to feed their habits.

Selling even this flawed system to people in producer countries, where organised crime is the central political issue, is fairly easy. The tough part comes in the consumer countries, where addiction is the main political battle. Plenty of American parents might accept that legalisation would be the right answer for the people of Latin America, Asia and Africa; they might even see its usefulness in the fight against terrorism. But their immediate fear would be for their own children."

In Denmark parents are fearing for their children too - that they might be the next (innocent) victims of the ongoing drug war.
Decriminalisation of drugs is not an easy issue and it would certainly have to be carried out with great care, but with more and more drug-related murders all over the world, can we afford not trying the least bad solution!??

Going to London tips

Sleeping

Finding an inexpensive hotel in London is impossible. We paid £82 a night for a Double Room at Rosecourt Hotel by Marble Arch Station. Decent location, free wireless internet connection, but £82!!?

You might want to go to a hostel and save a lot of money. From £7.99 a night you can stay at the Smart Russell Square Hostel. The location is spot on, and they also got other locations if you prefer another part of the city.

Transporting
Get an Oyster Card. Top it up with some money and go as you like.
Arriving at Heathrow Airport we bought an Oyster Card and paid £2.2 to go to London. Leaving London you get back whatever’s on your card plus the deposit.
Public transport in London is really world class! The mix of buses going every minute and the complex Tube system is simply unrivalled in any European city. The politicians have succeeded in keeping the car drivers out of London because they have to pay a high congestion charge to drive in central London.
Maximum price with the Oyster Card is around £7 in weekdays and £5 in the weekends (off peak days).

If you are sound, you don’t bike in London!! Being a Copenhagener this will be a great loss if/when I’ll be moving to London…
A vid of winter biking in Copenhagen - sorry about the shitty music, it's Swedish;)

Eating
I fell in love with Pret a Manger which does for a happy love affair in London since they practically are at every other corner. Healthy, preservative-free, tasty sandwiches to-go or to stay at reasonable prices. Another great London concept with around 10 outlets is Spaghetti House which I really recommend trying.
Otherwise you might want to look for something special in East London (get off at Liverpool Street Station).

Going Out
Saturday night we went to meet some London friends at The Old Queens Head at 44 Essex Road east of Camden in Islington. Hip, anti-hip and basic Londoners in their twenties dancing and chatting while the DJ’s were mixing new and classic London music. I drank Bulmers Cider all night at £3.5 for 660ml. Who told me London was expensive!!??
Get off at Angel Station and find The Old Queens Head or stumble into one of many other venues. When we had enough we stumbled out and jumped onto the Night bus going 4 times an hour all the way to Marble Arch.

Actually we were supposed to go to Quinn's at 65 Kentish Town Road in Camden. I’ll have to go there next time.

Being tourist
Take the famous London red double-decker bus. Choose for instance line 15, get a seat upstairs by the front windows and enjoy the great view. For £1 (the bus trip price) you can see Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and a lot more.
Get off by Sct. Paul’s Cathedral and stroll along Millennium Bridge to Tate Modern (free admission like the other museums).
View from British Museum at Trafalgar Square:

Shopping
Go to Primark at Oxford Street by Marble Arch. That’s it.

Cody - Comfort and Rage (Lyrics and stream)

Cody - Comfort and Rage - Lyrics:

You’ve got it in you
Yes, I know you can
Try to convince him
Choose your words
He is a simple man
Which makes it harder
You don’t really understand

And there is comfort and there’s rage
And yet you don’t know what it takes

You got it in you
What you say is not the truth
And what you don’t say
Is what prevents you from being fooled
I don’t know
It seems like you’re hiding from the truth

And there is comfort and there’s rage
And yet you don’t know what it takes

And it really really worries me,
Is there some comfort in this rage?
Now you’re really losing what
You had planned and dreamt about
Will you be (…)
And then there’s (…)

The development of the theme and structure of the song is actually great.

Leave a comment, if you know the words of the last two lines...

Kaiser Chiefs at Vega, Copenhagen

Stars: 5/6

It was a great show and a hell of a party. One reason why I'm not giving it 6 stars is because Broken Foot only would give it 4.
I shot a vid while Wilson went out among the crowd - I was a bit late to recognise where he was since Broken Foot and I maybe had one too many Tuborg Golden Ladies:

The set list (one of many girls waiting outside for Wilson let me take a picture of it):

Comparing Bon Iver to Kanye West: Woods vs. Coldest Winter

A commenter over at this post about Woods told another commenter not to compare Bon Iver to Kanye West. But why not?

They are singing about the same stuff or at least the same feelings. I bet they would even have some things in common to talk about if they met up – Basketball, for instance!

Just check out the thematic similarities between Woods and Coldest Winter. Both are about spending time alone contemplating - working on how and where to go from here:

Bon Iver - Woods - Lyrics:

I'm up in the woods
I'm down on my mind

I'm building a still
to slow down the time
-----------------------------

Kanye West - Coldest Winter - Lyrics:

On lonely nights I start to fade
Her loves a 1000 miles away
Memories made in the coldest winter
Goodbye my friend, will I ever love again?
Memories made in the coldest winter

It's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep
Her love is all that I can see

If spring can take this snow away
Can it melt away all our mistakes?
Memories made in the coldest winter
Goodbye my friend I won't ever love again
Never again

Bon Iver Fan Demographic Statistics in USA

My stats from Jan 5-Feb 4 on 2,014 American visitors - mainly on my Bon Iver lyrics and streams for the Blood Bank ep.

Map overlay - American Bon Iver fans on a map

Region visits
- where the Bon Iver fans live

Browser stats
- which browser Bon Iver fans use

I'm glad to see that most of you other fans are also browsing safely and quickly with Firefox:)

What surprises me is that about 1/4 of the Bon Iver fans apparently are Mac users (Safari)... or more if some of those Firefoxes are Macs too!?

Check out some more stats on Bon Iver on Google Trends (Wow!! Denmark is the third biggest (relatively) Bon Iver nation after Ireland and Australia...).

Warner Music and R.E.M. wrongfully accuses Danish band, Hej Matematik, of stealing song

Warner Music keeps digging its own grave by wrongfully removing music on the internet. (Some of many youtube users protest videos.)
This time R.E.M. accuses Danish band, Hej Matematik, of stealing from the song Supernatural Superserious in their hit in Danish Walkmand. Hej Matematik's song has been removed from Youtube with the following message from Youtube:
A copyright owner has claimed it owns some or all of the audio content in your video "Walkmand - Hej Matematik". The audio content identified in your video is Supernatural Superserious by R.E.M.. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue.
Is it a deaf machine who has done this comparison??

Has this song... (Hej Matematik - Walkmand)

... stolen anything from this song? (R.E.M - Supernatural Superserious)

No, that is so far off!
In fact the chorus is taken from this old Danish song, Walk, mand, from 1981:

Wait, does this mean that REM actually has stolen from the old Michael Hardinger song? Sue them, Michael!

All in all, it's so sad, Warner Music, so sad!

Choir of Young Believers - Next Summer (lyrics and stream)

Choir of Young Believers - Next Summer - Lyrics:
So dramatic when you called
So dramatic going down
So dramatic when you sang
It’s the best you ever get
Ever get

Next summer I will return
I’ll be back
I’ll break your heart
I’ll break your heart
When next summer starts

Next summer I will return
I’ll be back
You'll crash and burn
Now it's your turn
To crash and burn

And you’ll be just like a hurricane
Ruining everything
Great performance of Next Summer (song begins 0:40) last Friday from Danish Television music award show, P3 Guld.

Solal: Luna's Song (Lyrics and video) from The Moonshine Sessions

Solal - Luna's Song - Lyrics
:
It’s past the time we up and leave
All this concrete and this steel
Be where my mind can really breathe
Be where my heart can really feel

You can take me to the mountains
You can take me to the hills
This city’s dying by the day
And you know it always will

Momma, i wanna live where i can see the stars
I’m tired, uninspired and the country isn’t all that far

If you listen to the earth
You can hear as she weeps
Dig your hands down in the dirt
You can hold her as she sleeps

Momma, i wanna live where i can see the stars
I’m tired, uninspired and the country isn’t all that far
-----------------------------

The co-founder of Gotan Project, $olal, has done this great but very different act.
Listen to Luna's Song:

A quote from The Moonshine Sessions Myspace:
Psycho travellers know no boundaries; they recognise no borders for them the journey is everything, the producer-songwriter performer $olal is one of them. He is drawn to the beats and rhythms, the stories and the truths that are revealed in the music of country folk as well as urban dwellers from the heat and dust of Latin America to the raw edges of angst that have emanated from Country music's capital city Nashville USA.

It was to Nashville that the native Parisian travelled with his guitar to exorcise his personal demons...

New Eminem Single: Crack a bottle (stream, final version)

Eminem: Crack a Bottle (ft. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent). Final version stream:

Hey, it's friday, so crack a bottle!

Dr. Dre's verse is king. Not that I sympathize with crashing cars (I don't even have one...), but you know, the flow, it's ace!
